Watery Landscapes • Hidden Word Series/Bonnie Sprung
Each painting has a word hidden within the trees and landscape.
Each painting makes you look, think and smile.
Each expresses a word of motivation.
______________________
Bonnie loves painting trees. Her inspiration comes from the waterways of Florida.
In her earlier paintings she worked from black and white photos that she had taken of some of the rivers I lived near. St. Johns River was one that Bonnie had photographed several times.
Over the years her style of painting had gone from realistic to impressionistic or a combination of. Bonnie's most recent work has brought two loves together. The love of trees and the love of motivational words. As a kid, like many others, you would lay on your back and
look up into the sky to see the formations of what the clouds looked like to you. Sometimes you look at trees and the nature around and you would do the same.
In her Hidden Word Series, she took artistic license to create a painting
first visually beautiful as a tree landscape, then you would have to look a bit harder to see the word. Some are more easily visible, others will take a few more minutes to see. A "Meet the Artist" wine/cheese/jazz reception will be May 10, 2012, 6-8 PM. Admission is free.

Barbara Koepsell
Her first teacher was Lydia Quick in Windermere who taught her how to paint in oils but she grew discontented and wanted to try another art medium which led to watercolor. This became her art preference. Watercolor can be challenging but it can be exciting too. The ability to experiment with this medium is tremendous and can lead to many surprises, Except for a brief time at the Webster Adult Education Center with Chip Alford she has been mostly self taught but he got her started with the essentials and she took off from there
.Many of her ideas come from her own backyard or a nearby neighbors but many pictures are also taken on the many trips she has taken throughout the world with her husband, always carrying a camera to catch what just might later be a good picture.
A "Meet the Artist" wine/cheese/jazz reception will be June 14, 6-8 PM. Admission is free. |
